13 buoni motivi per vedere (oppure no) “Tredici”

Questa è la prima recensione a quattro mani delle FilmLovers!

Avete mai sentito parlare di Tredici? Se ci state leggendo, probabilmente sì. Tredici è una serie televisiva prodotta da Netflix, tratta dal libro omonimo di Jay Asher. La serie racconta (più o meno) questo: Hannah Baker (Katherine Langofrd) si suicida e lascia alle persone che l’hanno portata a questo disperato gesto, delle musicassette dove elenca i 13 motivi che l'hanno spinta a fare il grande salto. L'altro protagonista è Clay (Dylan Minnette), colui che per 13 puntate ascolterà le cassette. È il suo turno!

Dopo aver discusso tanto, abbiamo deciso di fare il “verso” alla serie. Non eravamo del tutto convinte, non sempre tutto è bianco o nero. Inizialmente eravamo schierate così: Francesca “non mi piacerà mai, ne parlano troppo!”, Laura: “Non è male, mi è piaciuta!”. Così ci siamo confrontate per più di una settimana e alla fine abbiamo individuato punti deboli e punti forti. Siamo entrambe d'accordo che, nonostante tutto la serie fa discutere!

COSA CI PIACE

1. È perfetto per il bingewatching (in un weekend in cui non sai che fare lo vedi tutto)
2. Lancia un messaggio forte al pubblico degli adolescenti di oggi. Il bullismo, non va sottovalutato. Tutte le nostre azioni, anche se per noi non hanno peso, hanno delle conseguenze.
3. Formalmente è fatto molto bene. Non è la solita serie con le luci smarmellate e il montaggio alternato.
4.  L'ossessionante presenza dell'oggetto "musicassetta".
5. Le cassette; abbiamo perso la bellezza del registrare noi la musica che ci piace. Spotify lo fa per noi, Hanna scopre che può lasciare il suo segno manualmente (se avesse fatto delle Instagram stories non sarebbe stato così interessante)
6. La sigla, il disegno dell'audiocassetta che si trasforma in bici è troppo carino
7.  Hannah Baker, adoro!
8. Clay è un bel personaggio. È complesso, è umano. Probabilmente è l’escluso del gruppo che viene rivalutato (è un po’ il messaggio della serie)
9.  Bè direi la cicatrice di Clay, la nostra grande bussola
10.  Il fatto che Clay porti i segni dell’animo distrutto. Più le cassette si fanno intense e la situazione di Hannah (secondo lei) arriva ad un punto di non ritorno, fisicamente Clay porta questi segni di cedimento: non si lava, botte ovunque, non dorme. Lei sempre impeccabile fino all'ultimo minuto.
11. Tony, Tony sa tutto ma non dice nulla, è il deus ex machina della situazione, anche perché è l'unico che gira ancora con il lettore cassette nella macchina.
12. Non ci sono personaggi totalmente buoni o totalmente cattivi; sono tutti tasselli importanti nella vita di Hannah ma ognuno ha la sua parte di colpa.
13. Il set del bar ha un'aria subito familiare e non è il solito bar americano stile anni 50 (ma in America hanno ancora i bar anni 50?

COSA NON CI PIACE

1.    Ci sono delle questioni che si potevano esplicare meglio (tipo il fatto che i genitori non si curano o si curano male dei figli) altre che non servono

2.    Sono situazioni irreali. Dalle pistole in casa, agli stupri, all’amica che ti pianta… Va bene in disagio giovanile ma fino a un certo punto

3.    Verso la fine si perde. Vogliono lasciare il finale aperto per la seconda stagione. Non ha senso una seconda stagione!!! Si chiama 13, hai fatto 13 episodi… di cosa parli dopo? Alcune cose sono belle perchè autoconclusive

4.    I ragazzi mi sembrano tutti dei maniaci sessuali (a parte Bryce che lo è) però allo stesso tempo regna tra di loro una pulsione omo non indifferente (almeno a me è sembrato così)

5.    Non lo paragonerei a Beverly Hills o Dowson’s Creek. Pur essendo una serie con degli adolescenti ha un altro mood.

6.    Basta con ste atmosfere cupe e inquietanti stile Twilight.

7.     Troppi personaggi, troppi, poche puntate e 1000 volti, ad un certo punto non ricordi neppure il nome del protagonista.

8.     Ed è per questo motivo che arriviamo all'ottavo motivo; essendo troppi i personaggi non riesci ad instaurare un rapporto con loro, non li "ami", non riesci ad aspettarli.

9.     Manca l'ironia, il divertimento, viene lasciato poco spazio alle battute. Tutto molto dark (Ragazzi, anche nella saga di Twilight qualche risata scappava).

10.  Non mi piace che il tossico di turno sia uno che: "Beve caffè". Scusate, ma in mezzo a tutta quella delinquenza, pistole, droga e alcool, passando per il bullismo e gli stupri, la codardia e l'omertà, voi vi focalizzate sul povero Clay che beve troppo caffè?

11.  Parolacce a Go-Go, non c'erano altri modi per far comunicare le persone? M'immagino lo sceneggiatore che dice: "è qui cosa potrebbe dire!??!?mmmhhh aspetta c**** t**** c*** ecc., ecc… E lo vorrebbero vietare nelle scuole per i temi trattati? Io affronterei i temi e controllerei il linguaggio piuttosto.

12.  Salti temporali troppo poco chiari. Sei nei corridoi della scuola, un secondo dopo sei nei corridoi della scuola e sono passati 2 anni. meno male che c'era la cicatrice di Clay a dirci "ehy, siamo nel presente!!!! Hannah è già morta!!!"

13.  La morte di Hannah. Sarebbe dovuta essere l'apice della serie invece è solo un momento crudo fine a se stesso (io ho chiuso gli occhi)

13 Reasons to Watch or not "13 Reasons Why"

This is our first four-handed review!Have you ever heard about “13 Reasons Why”? If you’re reading this, maybe. “13 Reasons Why” is a TV series produced by Netflix, based from Jay Hasher’s omonymous novel. The series talks (more or less) about this: Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) killed herself and left a series of audio tapes to all the people She thought had led her to death. In these tapes she explains the 13 reasons why she has killed herself. The other main character of the series is Clay (Dylan Minnette), the one who’s gonna hear the 13 sides of the records. It’s his turn!After long discuss, We’ve decided to review the series. We were not so sure about it, world isn’t black or white. At first Francesca said “I won’t like it at all! Too many rumors about it” and Laura said “Not bad, I like it!”. In the end we had faced each other about pros and cons of “13 Reasons Why” for more than a week. We both agree that, above all, “13 Reasons Why” is a very controversial series.

 WHAT WE LIKE

1. It’s perfect for bingewatcing (I suggest it for a long and lazy weekend)
2. It gives a strong message to the young audience. We don’t have to undervalue bullying. All our actions, even if we don't consider them, have consequences.
3. Formally It’s a good product. “13 Reasons Why” isn’t an annoying series with bad lights and cross cutting.
4. The obsessive presence of the tapes
5. Tapes, we’ve lost the pleasure of recording on our own the music we love, Spotify do it for us. Hannah discovers that she can leave her sign on earth by hand (Instagram stories wouldn’t be so interesting).
6. The opening credits. There is a draw of a tape that transforms into a bicycle… amazing!
7. We Love Hannah Baker
8. Clay is an amazing character. He’s complex, human. Probably is the outcast of the group that become revalued (maybe this is one of the messages of the series)
9. We’d say that Clay’s scar is our polar star
10. Clay has the sign of a broken soul. The more the tapes get intense and Hannah’s problems arrive to a point of no return, the more Clay’s body is full of bruises. Despite of Hannah's always perfect look.
11. Tony, He Knows everything but he doesn’t say a word; He’s like a puppeter, maybe because He has still a tape recorder in his car
12. There aren’t heroes and villains; all the characters are part of Hannah’s life but each of them has his faults.
13. The set of the diner has a familiar mood, and most of all isn’t an old 50’s diner (There are still old 50’s diners in America?)

WHAT WE DON’T LIKE

1. There are some points not well expressed and aexplained (for example the parents and childrens relationships) and some point not useful for the story.

2. There are some not so real situations. Guns at home, rapes, ends of friendships…joung disconforts is a good theme but this is too much.

3. The series looses his strenght towards the end. The creative crew wants an open ending of the series for a second season. A second season has no sense! The title is “13 Reasons Why”, there are 13 episodes… what’s next? Some series are beautiful because are self-contained.

4. The guys of the series seems sex maniacs (except Bryce who’s actually a sex maniac), but, at the same time, there is a not so little omosexual pulsion between them, for me. 

5. I wouldn’t compare it to Beverly Hills 90210 or Dowson’s Creek. Even if it's a teen drama, It has a whole different mood.

6. No more dark and disturbing atmosphere Twilight style!

7. Too many characters, not many episodes but many faces to remeber, you’ll risk to forget the name of the main character.

8. And then we get to the eighth point; there are too many characters that you can’t “fall in love” with them.

9. No irony, no fun, no gags. All the series is pretty dark (even in the Twilight saga there are some jokes)

10. I don’t like that “the junkie” is someone who just drink coffe. I mean, there are guns, drugs, alchol, violence, bullying and rapes and the bad guy is Clay who drinks coffe? Absurd.

11. Swearing all the way! There isn’t any other way to make them talking? I’m imaging the screenwriters mombling… «What should they say now? Oh well! Lets swear!»

12. There are not so clear time jumps. We watch a scene sets in the school halls and a second later we see a scene happened two years ago. Luckily there’s Clay’s scar to “guide” us.

13. Hannah’s death, it’s suppose to be the climax of the series but is just a cruel scene.
