Riverdale: buona la prima!

A.A.A. Cercasi affetto seriale disperatamente. Sto cercando disperatamente una serie che possa sostituire l'affetto per Grey's Anatomy e Glee, affetto che mi ha pugnalato alle spalle; la prima non la seguo più da quando Cristina è andata via, poi è morto Derek e con me Shonda ha chiuso (non completamente, seguo Le regole del delitto perfetto e guarderò Still star crossed , anche se questa attesissima serie già non mi convince). Glee invece, dopo la morte di Cory è diventato una schifezza e fortunatamente è stato chiuso, con una stagione di troppo.
Dopo aver guardato 13 e non averlo apprezzato fino in fondo, ho iniziato Rivedale che era nella mia lista “da guardare” già dell’inverno e vi spiego il motivo.
Verso novembre/dicembre mi era venuta una nostalgia pazzesca di Beverly Hills 90210, non tutte le stagioni, ma fino a quando Brenda e Dylan sono insieme, quindi mi sono guardata tutta la prima stagione. Avevo iniziato la seconda e non ho più avuto tempo. Così tra una puntata e l'altra cercavo qualche scoop sugli attori, c’erano notizie tristi su Shannen Doherty (Brenda) ammalata di cancro (sembra stare bene adesso), altre cose sugli altri di poco conto e poi traaaaaack “Luke Perry nuovo telefilm”.
Fatta, apro e inizio a leggere l'articolo. La trama del telefilm, non mi aveva molto convinto, pensavo fosse qualcosa tipo Teen Woolf, Secret Circle oppure The Vampire's diaries, che non seguo; una di quelle serie con forze occulte o soprannaturali, cose così. Ho meditato parecchi mesi e alla fine mi sono decisa: “guardo la prima puntata, se non mi piace, spengo e arrivederci!” seeeeeee, fosse vero, in quasi una settimana mi sono guardata tutti e 13 gli episodi (sto numero inizia a tormentare me e la Perrotti).
Allora, non so se mi sia piaciuta perché c'è Luke, fa il papà ed è molto lontano da Dylan, però la camminata e i gesti che fa sono sempre i suoi. Non so se mi sia piaciuta perché ero parecchio “delusa” in partenza e peggio non poteva andare, o se arrivavo da 13 e anche lì peggio non poteva andare (forse sono troppo crudele con 13, non fa poi così tanto ribrezzo).
La serie tv racconta le vicende di una città Riverdale, una tranquilla cittadina, che viene scossa dalla scomparsa di un giovane. Ad indagare, la polizia (per modo di dire) ed un gruppo di quattro giovani, Archie(il protagonista assoluto interpretato da KJ Apa) e i suoi amici: Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty (Lili Reinhard) e Jughead (Cole Sprouse, uno dei gemellini di Zach e Cody al grand hotel, serie di Disney Channel). I quattro, come se non fosse già abbastanza traumatico essere un adolescente negli Stati Uniti oggi, vorranno a tutti i costi trovare una soluzione. Chi sarà il vero cattivo?
La serie mi è piaciuta molto (alcune cose non tantissimo, sono pesante, lo so), c'è molto di Gossip Girl, con la differenza che (cosa che ho apprezzato tantissimo), non tirano per le lunghe, i ragazzi del telefilm cercano in tutti i modi di essere onesti, di prendersi le proprie responsabilità, molto di più degli adulti. Sono leali tra di loro, si aiutano, si sorreggono e cercano la verità. Forse, hanno così tanto carattere (e diverso da quello che siamo ultimamente abituati) perché la storia è tratta da un fumetto, iniziato negli anni 40 circa, quando le persone, diciamolo erano più semplici, meno sotto-trame. La cosa che mi è piaciuta parecchio è che il “caso” si risolve con una puntata di anticipo, rispetto alla fine e analizzano nell'ultima puntata, le conseguenze, per poi introdurre ciò che sarà nella seconda stagione: vari scenari aperti. Mi piace che le ultime due puntate abbiamo concluso la serie con calma, senza fretta (come spesso accade, che nell'ultima puntata succede di tutto e di più).

Però, sono un po' scettica (il fumetto non l’ho letto), queste serie teen-drama-thriller, possono stancare nel tempo? Io spero che possano trovare una formula e dare continuità alla serie, senza cadere dell’assurdo e nel ridicolo, come ahimè ultimamente spesso accade. Attendiamo!

A.A.A. Desperately seeking a tv show to love. I'm looking for a series that can replace the affection that bound me to Grey's anatomy and Glee, an affection that eventually stabbed me in the back: I stopped watching the former series when Cristina left the cast, and Derek died. Shonda is done with me. (not completely, I follow How to Get Away with Murder and I am going to watch Still Star Crossed, although this eagerly awaited series does not really convince me). Glee instead, after the death of Cory turned to crap and thankfully it has been cancelled after an horrible last season.

After watching 13 (I didn’t really liked it) I started Riverdale, that was on my watchlist since last winter, and now I’ll tell you why..

In November/December I got caught by an insane nostalgia for Beverly Hills 90210, but only for those episodes in which Brenda and Dylan were still togheter. I watched the entire first season. I started the second one but I run out of free time. Between an episode and the other, I’ve been looking for scoops on the actors. I read some sad news about Shannen Doherty (Brenda) who is ill with cancer (she seems to be fine now), some minor news about the other actors of the cast and then there it was! An article about “Luke Perry’s new tv show”.

I opened the article and I read through it. I wasn’t quite convinced by the plot, because I thought the show was something like certain series I don’t watch, as Teen Woolf, Secret Circle or The Vampire's Diaries,. I was convinved that it was one of those series with occult or supernatural forces, or something like that. I have been thinking about watching or not that series for several months and in the end I made up my mind: I’d have watched the first episode, and if I didn’t like it, I’d have turned off the tv. But in the end I watched all the 13 episodes in less than a week! (This number is starting to torment both Perrotti and I).

Actually, I don't know if I liked it because Luke is in the cast; he plays the role of Archie's father and his character has nothing to do with Dylan. Even though the way he walks and his gestures are still the same. I don't know if I liked it because I didn’t have high expectations, or because I had just ended 13 and to me, nothing could be worse thant that. (Maybe I'm too cruel with 13, it is not so terrible, though!!).

The Tv series tells the story of Riverdale, a quiet town, shaken by the disappearance of a young man. The police department (actually just one policeman) investigate the case, as well as Archie (The protagonist interpreted by KJ Apa), and his friends: Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty (Lili Reinhard) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse, one of the twins of Zach and Cody, a Disney Channel series). The four guys, as if it wasn't enough traumatic being a teenager in the United States, want to solve the case at all costs . Who is the culprit?

I really enjoyed the series, though I didn’t like certain things, (I’m difficult, I know it), There are many elements taken from Gossip Girl, but with a main difference (and I really appreciated it), the teens are staight to the point, they try to be honest, to take on their responsibilities, and they’re far better than adults in doing this. They are loyal, they help and support each other and they seek the truth. Maybe they have strong personalities (and we are not accustomed to guys like them anymore) because the story is based on a comic strip, started in the 40s, when people were less complicated. What I liked most is that the case is solved in the 12^th episode, and in the last one, they analize the consequences of the crime and they give a hint of what the second season will be, leaving different scenarios opened. I really appreciated that the last two episodes ended the season without any “hurry” ( since often during the last episode they make happen too many things!).

However, I'm a bit skeptical: (I didn't read the comics) will you grow shick of these teen-drama-thriller series, in time? I hope they can find a formula and give continuity to the series, without getting ridicolous, as nowadays happens too often. Let's see!
